General Goodness

My previous post about great Australian shops needs to be extended.. I have since discovered General Pants Co. Yes I know the name sounds a bit well, pants, I thought this originally until you get through the door. There is a great array of quirky, cool clothes similar to Urban Outfitters offering with a more beachy laidback feel. Mainly a brand offering; Cheap Monday, Don’t Ask Amanda, Fairground, Insight, Stussy, Mimi loves Jimi…… Here are some of my favourite picks;

Australian fashion round up…

Since arriving in Australian over a week ago now, I have been testing out the high street to see whats good in Australian fashion. So far I have not been disappointed, the summer clothes are so tempting…. Here is my round up of the best shops I have found so far…
Cotton On
This store is great for basics with good colour palettes and prints and cute fun accessories.
Sportsgirl
Amazing accessories and colourful ranges of basics that are cheap, more for an athletic girl. There is a store in every mall, even better.
Forever New
This is every girly girl’s dream, it is full of gorgeous dresses and accessories that are more upmarket than the other two stores mentioned. It uses pale palettes of creams, pinks and golds to create ultimate dress up frocks for the weekend.

Factorie
This is my most recent find, similiar to Cotton on, but cheaper, I found so many nice things in their but my trick is being needing to convert clothes into English winter clothes so it makes it a lot more difficult. However, the girls that I am travelling with are here for a lot longer so I making them buy everything I want!

So overall, there are lots of things money can buy in Australia there is no shortage of fashion options.
I still have time to find that elusive New Year’s outfit, can’t wait until Sydney.

Hailee for Miu Miu

Only yesterday I was walking past Miu Miu pondering over their ad campaigns featuring Hailee Steinfeld, she is a gorgeous girl but I couldn’t decide whether her being in the ad was a good move or not. She suits the brand and is impeccably dressed, the issue is the age. Is fourteen an appropriate age to front a campaign? I am perhaps slightly jealous of this achievement. and there are lots of professional models the same age who do the same day in, day out. There is an article on Elle today, informing the campaign has been dropped not because of her age per se, but the fact of the location of the shoot. It makes a very interesting read and is not the only label to under controversy lately, Marc Jacobs had the same issue with Dakota Fanning. Is age appropriate in a fashion campaign??

Leopard Print love…

On a shopping spree in Kuala Lumper, I fell in love with this playsuit as it will make me life complete… perfect for both New Year in Sydney on its own and with tights and heels for London winter Saturday nights.
Go and grab one now, I’ve got mine.

Cambodian Fashion Week

The best experience I have had so far is opportunity to be involved with Cambodian Fashion week; One show, one fashion exhibition and two parties. It was a great time spent in Phnom Penh and great new friends have been made. The show I was able to work on for the run way was Coco Wellington and The Two Wonders, a great yound New Zealand brand. Definitely worth a google – the label creates beautiful dresses with a modern grecian feel.

The Hoi An experience…

When we stopped in Hoi An, there was only one thing on ours minds…tailors. The only question was which one? Hoi An is only a small sleepy village in comparison to the rest of Vietnam with every other store being a tailors. My list of garments in hand and pictures of what I want clasped to my chest I set off in search of the tailor to met my expectations. We found two lovely ladies in the central market who knew exactly what we were after. The whole experience was exhilarating and exciting, nervous to gain exactly what you had pictured in your head and going through the whole process from stratch, lead times were overnight.
